Taxidermy costs

Native birds
Have you found a dead bird and would you like to have it stuffed? It is important to first check (with gloves) whether the bird is still suitable for taxidermy. A bird is rotten if you gently rub the belly or eyelid with your finger and the feathers come loose or if there is a bad smell. If the bird is okay, put it in a sealed plastic bag with as little air as possible in the freezer as soon as possible and contact us. Do not use newspapers, paper towels or other materials. Native birds receive a mark on their leg and are registered in your name/address at the RVO. This means that the bird is legally in your possession and can be mounted against preparation costs. The bird may not be resold after this, because trading of protected birds is prohibited.

Cost
Below you will find an overview of the costs that you can expect. To taxidermy an animal is a time-consuming job. Partly because of this, the price of the taxidermy piece is determined. The price includes a standard pedestal (shelf or shelf with branch).

A deposit of 30% is paid when you bring the bird. The remaining amount will be paid when the piece is finished. Payment can be made by payment request, cash or by card.

A surcharge can be charged for animals with a lot of fat, for heavily damaged animals, for 'difficult' species or if the animal has to be set up in a different position. This is also the case for specimen with an open beak, wings spread or placed on an extended pedestal ('landscape'), or when a non-standard wall shelf and/or pedestal is to be placed.

I am located in Assen. If this is too far, an animal can also be shipped to me with icepacks, depending on the temperature outside.
